Create your character as a starting character out of Force and Destiny, Edge of the Empire, or Age of Rebellion.
The Jedi career is not available at start, though specializations may be purchased as Universal Specializations to any character that already has minimum Force Rating 1.
Duty begins at 5 and is assigned to a faction based on the player's chosen starting career. See the rules on Duty, Obligation and Morality for greater details.
Obligation starts at 5. Up to 10 additional Obligation may be taken in exchange for additional starting XP and/or starting credits as per base character creation in Edge of the Empire. It cannot be spent to increase or decrease Morality at character creation.
Once you have created a basic starting character you may then add 50 XP and 1500 credits. Khyber crystals are unavailable at game start and will need to be obtained via gameplay.
